At Distillery de Bronckhorst we believe in a circular economy and fair and artisanal processes. And you can taste that in our homemade spirits: whisky, brandy, jenever, gin, eau-de-vie, grappa… Our spirits are full of love, dedication and local ingredients from the Achterhoek. Sustainability is also of paramount importance to us: we work with and for nature. Moreover, we distill in small quantities to maintain full control over the production process. This is how we give each spirit its own unique aroma, colour and flavour.
In the middle of the characteristic landscape of the Achterhoek, where nature and real craftsmanship come together, you will find Distillery de Bronckhorst. This is the ideal place to grow delicious, sustainable products. To guarantee the unique taste, we keep the entire process in-house: from cow to grain, from grain to dram.
To start, our rare Dahomey cows live happily without antibiotics and medication. Later we spread their healthy manure over our own arable land. This is where the barley for our Dahomey Single Estate Dutch Whiskey and Old Dutch Jenever (100% malt wine) matures…
…Then follows the process of harvesting, brewing, distilling and maturing. This is also done in-house and completely free of chemicals or artificial flavourings or colourants.
Furthermore, surplus fruit such as apples and pears, from fruit growers in the Achterhoek, is also processed in-house into a high-quality fruit eau de vie.
We buy the press residues and wines that are normally thrown away from the Achterhoek wine growers. We use this to make our juniper water and brandies, among other things. Talk about circular economy!
Finally it is time to enjoy the delicious taste of honest craftsmanship. And as they say in the Achterhoek:
mo’j g’woon ‘s pruven!
